KWC Maintenance Program

At Key West Swim & Tennis Club, a significant amount of time and work is necessary to open and close the pool and maintain our property year-round. We are fortunate to have a beautiful, extensive riverfront property and a wonderful membership community.

KWC receives no funds from any HOA or community organization and is completely funded by membership fees. The KWC Board is composed of volunteers who receive no compensation or profits. KWC members balance the communal obligation of keeping the facility thriving through a volunteer program. Since the 2021-22 season, KWC has assessed each Membership Unit a Maintenance Fee in addition to the membership dues. The Club will refund this fee upon completion of a modest number of volunteer hours.

For 2025:

Each Membership Unit will be assessed a $100 Maintenance Fee in addition to the
membership fee. This fee is subject to change in future seasons.
The Maintenance Fee is fully refundable upon completion of volunteer work and
will be distributed on 12/01/25.
Each year, the Board will set the volunteer hours requirement; for the 2024-25
season the requirement is 3 hours per membership unit.

DETAILS

This fee must be paid up front with your membership dues (even if your hours
were completed prior to your dues submission).
If volunteer hours are not completed by October 31, your maintenance fee will not be refunded.
Volunteer work for the Key West Swim Team does not count towards this program.
All volunteer hours must be fulfilled by members 16 years of age and older.
(Children are welcome to participate alongside their over-16 year old family
members.) 3 hours are required per membership unit.
Volunteer hours are not transferable between memberships.
A list of volunteer opportunities will be shared with membership as they are
available and only approved volunteer activities will count toward fulfillment of
the policy.

REFUNDS

For the 2024-25 season, refunds will be mailed to members on or about December 1, 2025.
Refunds will only be provided to members who have fulfilled all the required hours; there will be no partial refunds.

VOLUNTEER JOBS

Volunteering at the KWC’s Work Parties shall result in an hour-by-hour credit for
work completed. Volunteers must enter their hours on the Google Form to receive
credit.
Additional job opportunities will be posted to a Sign Up Genius or announced in the weekly club newsletter. Members may contact us to propose their own ideas. There is plenty to do.

Process for Fulfilling Volunteer Hours

The club member attends a club work party, chooses a job (from the Sign Up Genius or newsletter posting) OR contacts the Board (keywestclub1@gmail.com) with an idea for a job not yet on the list. All ideas must be approved by a Board member before work counts towards required hours.
Job needs to be completed by October 31, 2025. November 1, 2025 starts a new year.
Members must complete the “KWC Volunteer Hours” Google Form to receive credit for their work.
Completion of job is verified by the maintenance program coordinators and is recorded on the membership list.
